2nd ASSEMBLY of Real Democracy Now Scotland. IT IS NOT A DEMO

Hello!!
E-mails from all the people who want this movement to keep moving forward by helping in the organization have been collected.
In case there is anybody who couldn’t write his/her e-mail and want to participate in the organization, you will be able to do it in the assembly called for Wednesday May, 25th in Bristo Square at 7:30pm. (Next to Forest Café and the university).

This assembly has the aim of deciding what to do next and how to do it to move this forward. IT IS NOT A CONCENTRATION!!!!

The idea is to organise the assemblies this way:

1- Ideas about what tasks have to be done and how urgent they are are expressed.

2-Most important tasks are selected and given among the working groups created by fields.

In today’s assembly (Sunday 22nd), the following groups have been created:

- Creativity Group: Design flyers and general image of this movement, in Scotland.

- Redaction Group: Write the required documents to express the intentions and motivations of this movement and translate the necessary Spanish documents.

- Broadcast/Spread Group: It´s objective is to spread the reason why we are doing these concentrations and why there is the intention of transmit this feeling to the Scottish and, in general, to the entire world.

- Logistics Group: To find anything necessary for the movement and concentrations. (Megaphones, tables, place to gather together…)

- Events/Legal group: Handle all legal stuff for the movement, finding out what we can do and what we can´t. Contacting the council and the police and making sure we do not commit legal errors during our concentrations.

3- Groups gather together on their own and work the given tasks, showing their solutions/conclusions in the next assembly.

4- Assembly, by consensus, decides whether or not the solutions given by the groups are correct. In that case, they are approved and worked out by the same group.

5- In the same assembly the new ideas are given to the groups, which will finish up the open process and work out the new tasks.

This process should be repeated continuously and new groups should be created as new ideas and tasks appearing in the assemblies require so.

It is obvious that in these assemblies is where concentrations, demos and other events to organise should be decided and organised by these groups.

It isn’t necessary to say that any of the exposed approaches are completely changeable. This is the idea that has been said in the assembly today. Let’s see what comes on Wednesday and how we can make better the way of getting organised.
_______________________________________________________________

Hola!!

SEE YOU ON WEDNESDAY!!

Manifesto – Real Democracy Now!

We are not goods in the hands of politicians and bankers.
We are ordinary people. We are like you: people, who get up every morning to study, work or find a job, people who have family and friends. People, who work hard every day to provide a better future for those around us. Some of us consider ourselves progressive, others conservative. Some of us are believers, some not. Some of us have clearly defined ideologies, others are apolitical, but we are all concerned and angry about the political, economic, and social outlook which we see around us: corruption among politicians, businessmen, bankers, leaving us helpless, without a voice. This situation has become normal, a daily suffering, without hope. But if we join forces, we can change it. It’s time to change things, time to build a better society together. Therefore, we strongly argue that the priorities of any advanced society must be equality, progress, solidarity, freedom of culture, sustainability and development, welfare and people’s happiness. These are inalienable truths that we should abide by in our society: the right to housing, employment, culture, health, education, political participation, free personal development, and consumer rights for a healthy and happy life. The current status of our government and economic systems does not take care of these rights, and in many ways is an obstacle to human progress. Democracy belongs to the people (demos = people, krátos = government) which means that government is made of every one of us. However, most of the political class does not even listen to us. Politicians should be bringing our voice to the institutions, facilitating the political participation of citizens through direct channels that provide the greatest benefit to the wider society, not to get rich and prosper at our expense, attending only to the dictatorship of major economic powers and holding them in power through a two-party system. The lust for power and its accumulation in only a few; the creation of inequality, tension and injustice, which leads to violence, which we reject. The obsolete and unnatural economic model fuels the social machinery in a growing spiral that consumes itself by enriching a few and sends into poverty the rest. Until it collapses. The will and purpose of the current system is the accumulation of money, without regarding efficiency and the welfare of society. Wasting resources, destroying the planet, creating unemployment and unhappy consumers. Citizens are the gears of a machine designed to enrich a minority which does not regard our needs. We are anonymous, but without us none of this would exist, because we move the world. If as a society we learn to not trust our future to an abstract economy, which never returns benefits for the most, we can eliminate the abuse that we are all suffering. We need an ethical revolution. Instead of placing money above human beings, we shall put it back to our service. We are people, not products. I am not a product of what I buy, why I buy and who I buy from. For all of the above, I am outraged. I think I can change it. I think I can help.
I know that together we can. I think I can help.
I know that together we can

Manifiesto- Democracia Real Ya!
Somos personas normales y corrientes.

Hora

Viernes 20 (HOY) 14h - 16h CONSULADO ESPAÑOL( 63, North Castle Street. Edinburgh EH2 3LJ.)

Sábado, 20 y 21 de mayo · 14:00 - 17:00

Lugar
National Gallery Of Scotland junto a Princess Street

A protest on the making: Nobody Expects the Spanish Revolution

Social-networking brought Spanish Local Residents to the Edinburgh Tollcross Community Centre , where protest banners were crafted . Banners that will be exhibited at the  forthcoming  demonstrations that will take place in the Scottish capital as replicas of the protests carried away in the Iberian peninsula, where thousands have taken the streets asking for a more transparent democracy, and the deposition of the current establishment and its political class.

The participants were informed through mouth to mouth and social networking. A number of Facebook  gropus have emerged as mirrors to the ones on the Peninsula, were the Spanish residents of Edinburgh and other European capitals have joined their countrymen in their calls for a better democracy.

Edinburgh boasts a growing community of Spaniards with a very young profile. Many looking for international experience, but others, in the look of an opportunity that they feel they have been deprived off in their father land.

During the almost spontaneous meeting the atmosphere was that of inconformity with the current situation and a positive belief in that things can be changed, with mutual cooperation. There was no political discussion, nor any other common agenda than voice-raising and support the cause of a better Democracy, a "real" one.

Spanish unemployment amidst the young generations peaks to around 40%.
